Inner Latitude Reef, Forster, Australia. March 2007

Our last dive on this Australian trip.

Nice easy dive after the strains of the last dive.

Clear water, dived to 13 metres with visibility of 20metres plus.

Saw: Numb Rays, Wobbegong Sharks, Nurse sharks, sea slugs, lion fish, cuttlefish and all the usual reef fish.

Took my best picture to date - last one below. In one frame I managed to capture: A stack of numb rays, with lobster, cuttlefish and rough bulls-eye.

We set out today to see more nurse sharks, unfortunately, the seas were a bit lumpy, the weather very overcast, and the sharks hanging out elsewhere.

When we got in the water there was a strong current running, and 3 divers had to abort after a strenuous swim back to the boat. The rest of us dived, but visibility was poor with lots of red weed in the water.

The dive was enjoyable, saw a good selection of life, but most pictures spoiled by the weed.

This was an awesome dive!.

Ron and Dave from Dive Forster are experts at finding sharks, and they sure came up trumps on this trip.

We dived to about 25 metres, then crawled along a sandy bottom until we were right under a school of some 50 grey nurse sharks.

Our camera packed up working, so these pictures are compliments of a young lady we met on the boat called Tanya Behr.

There is not much more to say about this dive than I said on the page for 2001

Shark Gutters, South Solitary Island, Coffs Harbour. January 2007

These pictures were taken on our first dives after 3 years. We bought a house in Spain in May 2004, and spent all our money fixing it up how we wanted, so we had no money for diving.

The maximum depth we reached was 19 metres, and the water was a lovely 21ºC

The dive site is called Shark Gutters, South Solitary Islands off Coffs Harbour, Australia.

We saw: Large Bull Rays, Trigger fish, Painted Sweet Lips, Rock Cods, Groupers, Goat Fish, Damsel Fish, Eagle Rays, Wobbegong Sharks and various other Reef fish.

Kevin was really excited when we went to the Canaries, as we found out that they allow kids of 10 to get their Junior Scuba Divers certificate.

He actually booked his lessons and was in the pool for the first exercise before we had even managed to get to the room in the holiday complex.

We all 3 did a few dives here and between me and the dive centre guide we got a few nice pictures.

Fish Rock Cave, South West Rocks, Australia. January 2001

This dive took my breath away. It was my first cave dive, and the greatest number of sharks all in one dive.

The 12th January 2001 was my last day of diving before flying home. I managed to get 2 dives at a place called Fish Rock. The dive site is reached by boat from the town of South West Rocks.

The dive consists of a dive through a cave which is about 24 metres at the deep entrance and rises to about 14 metres at the shallow entrance with a total distance of 105 metres.

The caves have a resident group of Nurse Sharks who inhabit the opening at the shallow end of the swim through. They and the local dive centres have entered into an un-written agreement that as long as the divers keep to the right on the way in, they will not bother them.

This was my best day diving ever. I did 4 dives over a period of 10 hours. I was in pretty good condition having dived at least twice a day for the previous 3 weeks.

These pictures were taken on the Great Barrier Reef. I did about 10 dives here, but failed to keep a record of which pictures were taken on which dive.

Maldives 2000

These were taken by David on his first dives while he was still learning.

He spent 2 weeks in the Maldives and loved it. The diving was fantastic with incredible visability and an amazing variety of underwater life.

These dives spoilt David to the extent that very few dive sites since have lived up to the ones in the Maldives.
